WORKSHOP WITH CALVINE CORZINE
23 – 25 NOVEMBER
Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Calvin Corzine grew up in a community submerged in yoga. An athlete from an early age, sports held center focus. Calvin’s love for sports continues–he’s a die hard Lakers fan who never shies from excitement in the physical world, surfing, and practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It was in his 20s that Corzine discovered his own draw to the practice of yoga, leading him to his current path as a teacher.
Calvin teaches asana and movement-forward classes that are a blend of Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga, and Iyengar. His own studies began under teacher, mentor and good friend Vinnie Marino. Corzine has completed over 500 hours of training under the guidance of Vinnie Marino, Jenny Aurthur, Jesse Schein, Sharath Jois, and continues to building his knowledge of yoga under senior teachers (including Lisa Walford, Maty Ezraty, Sonya Cottle and Manuso Manos) in Mysore, India, and locally in LA.
18:30 - 20:30
Practice with Perspective
Approaches familiar poses in a way that will help you find a sense of strength and focus in your practice. Expect to change your perspective on what is considered “basic” in yoga! This class is broken into 3 parts: the first part with a blindfold (increasing focus and attention to subtle movements), the second with blankets and props, emphasizing strength and boosting focus, and the third taught free of props, honing into increased presence in these yoga postures. Leave this class with expanded insight into your own body and practice.
10:00 - 12:00
In this workshop we will explore on a basic level what makes sense for natural movement and allowing your practice to help your body perform at its best. We will address things like full range of motion, evening out work on opposing sides of the body and avoidance of things like external leverage to really be efficient in your practice and body work.
14:30 - 16:30
Lower body opening
This workshop will explore the use of multiple modalities as well as traditional postures to both open and strengthen the lower half of the body (hips, hamstrings, quads etc.). It explores the use of movement based exercises, yin stretching and unconventional ways to create ongoing opening.
14:30 - 16:30
A flow class that will incorporate many traditional postures, be very breathe focused and physically challenging without an emphasis on advanced postures. Within the basics we will also use some less conventional posture transitions to help keep the mood light and tone of class fun and new. This class will have loud music and be really sweaty
